If you want to bring some fine craftsmanship and beauty to your games, these dice are for you! Ebony is a beautiful, heavy, and rare wood that I always feel honored to work with. The wood has been prized for thousands of years by artisans and instrument makers for its dark black color, hardness, and tight grains which hold intricate details. Ebony polishes itself from its own oils, and it’s so heavy that it’s one of the only woods that sinks in water.
I think the black of Ebony wood is beautifully complimented by gilding, so I researched and refined a gilding technique to fill in the fine shapes and edges of the markings and I finally feel happy with the results shown here.
Note that ebony does have a downside - a number of species of ebony are linked to unethical logging practices, and they are therefore restricted from export from certain geographies. To address this I’ve investigated how to ethically use the offcuts of FSC-certified Ebony which are too small to be used by instrument makers. Working with these fragments can be a challenge, requiring the development of custom jigs and methods to make these dice from pieces which might otherwise be discarded — I feel good about offering these products as a result.
You will receive one pair of dice with a standard 16x16x16mm size
